MY STORY & CAREER
Wellbeing Educator & Human Centered Advocate
From a regional farming childhood to the big smoke of University, project management in local and state government and the private sector, with experience spanning tourism, arts, higher education, forestry, veterinary, engineering and infrastructure, I have been around the tracks a little. I have met a lot of people from a lot of different backgrounds and had a lot of conversations.
Amongst it all I went off to have a family, moved to the outback, and things got tough. Somehow, I found my way back to a happier life, I managed to both stay alive and married. Someone else in my community did not make it. My dear friend’s brother. I was the last person to saw and when I found that out, it rocked my core.
I want to make a difference, I want you to make a difference. I want us to notice, to look after each other, in our work lives and personal lives. Talk more, share, be there for each other. You don’t have to solve it, but we all can help. You never know what some else is going through. It all starts with a conversation, and it starts with our own leadership, we are all leaders to someone, and that someone is always watching and listening to how we respond and care for others.
Through Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) I teach people how to better understand mental health challenges, practice de-escalation skills, and navigate difficult conversations. Other arms of my work help organisations build the human capability and psychological safety needed to look after their people.
I am particularly passionate about the emotional intelligence of our leaders and how they respond to the very real human experiences people bring with them. I also believe emotional intelligence does not come naturally, it can be cultivated. We can learn more, become more aware, have the conversations, and be humble enough to recognise what we do not yet know.
I believe that the more equipped we are with the skills to support one another, the more connected, valued, trusted and understood people feel, and the stronger our communities are. I also believe happiness and wellness are contagious, and when people feel this way, they are better able to show up for themselves and others and whatever environment they are in.
My professional development includes Bachelor of Business, Trauma Informed Training (Berry Street), ICCF coaching, EAN (Equine Animal / Nature Assisted Learning + Wellness), Mental Health First Aid Accredited Instructor Trainer Australia.
I join you to share real life experiences and unpack practical scenarios with care. I meet each group where they are at, with what they need, blending serious stories with humanness and play. I am kind, gentle, warm and tuned in.
I also grow flowers, hundreds and hundreds on my tiny micro flower farm, cultivating joy with my kelpie Jack. That however is another story and another passion for another day.
Based in Australia, let me help your people by building self awareness, supporting our people remain open to new ideas and ways of working, and develop the confidence to have the conversations that matter.
